Der Syrah (in manchen Teilen der Welt Shiraz genannt) zählt mit Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir und Merlot zu den weltweit hoch geschätzten roten Edelrebsorten. Er ist der Grundstock für die größten Weine der nördlichen Rhône wie Saint Joseph, Côte Rôtie und Hermitage. In deren unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft im Südosten Frankreichs, unterhalb von Lyon bis Montélimar, erstrecken sich die Collines Rhodaniennes, das Herkunfts-gebiet unseres Syrahs des Cave Saint-Désirat, der großartige und authentische reb- sortenreine Syrah-Weine produziert. Der 2021er Syrah IGP zeichnet sich durch eine brillante rubinrote Farbe, kräftige, aber weiche Tannine und eine Aromatik von Gewürzen, dunklen Beeren (Cassis, Brombeeren) und ein mittel- langes Finale mit einem Touch weißen Pfeffers aus. Und das bei einem für Rotwein erstaunlich geringen Alkoholgehalt von nur 11,5 %!
